Sinusitis- Symptoms, Treatment and Solution
Sinusitis is the swelling in the sinus cavities of tissue and is a common condition affecting millions of people every year. Among other symptoms, it often causes breathing difficulties, headache and running nose and is, in turn, usually caused by viral infection such as sinus. Bacteria, structural changes, such as growth known as "polyps," or problems with the "wall" between the nostrils can also be responsible to trigger the sinus cavities.
Sometimes a person with sinusitis cannot immediately realise that the sinuses are inflamed. But then you can suddenly feel pressure within the sinuses along with many other symptoms. Allergies, colds and upper respiratory infections often show symptoms similar to sinusitis and conditions are often confused.
To complicate matters further, doctors usually cannot use symptoms alone to diagnose sinusitis. You may need to check your nasal inflammation or swelling. To do so, a small camera is often inserted, called an endoscope, into the sinuses, to get a better look. You may also order an X-ray type called a CT scan to determine inflammation levels. If you go for acute sinusitis treatment, getting a permanent solution possible.
A number of different ways of classifying sinusitis:
• Acute sinusitis, a case that improves in four weeks or less.
• Subacute, four to eight weeks long sinusitis.
• Chronic, more than twelve weeks long sinusitis.
• Acute recurrent sinusitis, less than 2 weeks long, but 3 times or more within one year.
Sinusitis symptoms
Sinusitis symptoms can be common, regardless of the type of sinusitis. They are caused by swollen sinus tissue, excess mucus that flows around the throat to cough, and slim-down mucus, because it cannot drain, and cause pressure and pain.
Symptoms include:
• Frontal pain, teeth and cheeks, between and behind the eyes;
• The mucus which runs out or down the nose, especially if the colour is not clear;
• Tobacco consumption
• Sore throat
• Tiredness
It is a good idea to see your doctor for acute sinusitis treatment if you have symptoms. They may recommend that you rest, drink lots of fluids and use over-the-counter decongestants after examination and assessment of the cause of your symptoms. If you continue to develop symptoms for more than a few weeks, or are serious, visiting an ENT doctor can help you gain further treatment. Speak for more information to your physician.
