Your thyroid plays a very important role in your overall well being. When not working properly, it can lead to fatigue, increased cold sensitivity, weight gain, dry skin and much more. If you’re experiencing these symptoms, you should get your blood checked and if necessary, we can create a treatment plan. A regulated thyroid is a happy body.
The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped endocrine gland that is normally located in the lower front of the neck. The thyroid gland is a small gland, normally weighing less than one ounce. It is made up of two halves, called lobes and it lies along the windpipe (trachea) and is joined together with a narrow band of thyroid tissue, known as the isthmus. The thyroid’s job is to make thyroid hormones, which are secreted into the blood and then carried to every tissue in the body. Thyroid hormone helps the body use energy, stay warm and keep the brain, heart, muscles and other organs working as they should.
