Difference Between a Sore Throat and Strep Throat

A viral infection mainly causes a sore throat; according to ENT doctors, it can be treated easily. When you get a sore throat, you have problem swallowing, get runny nose, have symptoms like coughing, and red throat. The doctor does virtual tests to confirm their diagnosis. After they verify the disease, they give over-the-counter medicines and fluids. It usually stays for 5 to 7 days after the symptoms start. On the other hand, strep throat happens because of bacterial infection. Common symptoms of this disease are pus accumulated behind the throat, neck rash, fever, and swollen tonsils. The ENT doctor does a throat culture swab to diagnose it. The ailment can be treated with over-the-counter medicine, fluids, and medication. It can last a few weeks but can be cured within 48 hours with antibiotics.
